An old hot water unit giving out overnight, or a pipe finally bursting under the floor after a century underground: that's the shape most emergency calls take in this stretch of King Street's terrace grid.

Underneath the energy of the cafes and live music venues along the main strip sits some of the densest, oldest terrace housing anywhere nearby. Much of it is heritage-listed two-up-two-down rows from the 1880s to 1910s building boom, packed tightly along the streets running off King Street toward Enmore.
